Stratford, England, year 1607. First years of Jacob I reign. The bubonic plague is devastating the country and theatres remain closed. The actors’ companies are ruined and it seems the epidemic has no end.
A comedian, Edmund Shakespeare, brother of the famous playwright William Shakespeare, resolves to stir up the scenic world and perform the best stage play ever written in order to get the king’s authorisation to open public theatres again.
The problem arrives when Edmund Shakespeare steals a text from his brother and tries to perform the tragedy of the unmentionable “Scottish Play”. The scarcity this comedian will endure to stage this play will be the excuse to reflect, in comedy mode, about the greatest talent in the world of drama.
